Greetings! Salutations! Hello, and good morning!
I have just returned from another trip abroad. This time I made the journey across the pond with my dear sister to Prague, a destination I have been dreaming of visiting for a long time. When I was younger, there were rumors of some type of writers' movement rising in the old city, and I was looking forward to participating in such a thing. A new generation of the "lost" if you will.
However, life got in the way and now I reside in my hometown, still pursuing a career in the field. As you, dear reader, have probably surmised so far I have been quite absent in updating these blogs and adding to my catalog of novels and authors.
Do not fret. Every day I think of this site and the plans I have for such things. It is not a matter of if, but when for me. Prague taught me such things.
I met a people with a past full of troubles. The cloud of Nazi, then Soviet rule. However, from the proverbial ashes arose a proud people with a desire to create art and forge on. I saw ballets and operas. I gawked at the building and art older than my home country. It was all fascinating to see, and I am looking forward to a return trip soon.
Prague, to me, is a quieter elegance. A kind of enrichment you have to sit with and talk to for a while, just like its people. Many Czech people took a moment to warm up to me, but when they did, they were lovely. The transportation was efficient and the city itself struck a fun balance between modern and medieval. My sister loves antiquing, but I have never felt the allure as much as she until I saw that some of the artifacts here are hundreds of years old. A run of the mill shop could sell you a painting older than you can fathom for a mere $20. I loved delving deep into that.
The deciding factor forthe trip was the Christmas markets. I wanted to find hand made toys carved in a shop that smelled like the freshly carved wood and polished leather. I was not dissappointed. Prague delivered on every promise I made to myself and more.
I wish I had more time and in different circumstances. The more experience travel, the more I am faced with what I do not know. The millions of lives I have not lived. Oh to be a wood artisan in Prague, selling hand carved birds to eager travelers.
But now I wish to see it in the fall. Autumn in Praha sounds divine.
Cheers,
